The latest swap at the Altered Art Fat Book Yahoo group is entitled “Alpha Embellishments”.
Each of the 26 players took one letter of the alphabet and created something that started with that letter using materials that would not normally be used. My selection was Q for quilt. I decided on the pinwheel block pattern.
I used air conditioning tape (silver), tree foil (copper) and dry wall tape (gridded mesh) as the basis for creating my pinwheel block. These tapes were cut to size and then applied to black card stock. I added white ‘stitching’ to make it feel like a quilt and then added two layers of cutouts to create the feeling of movement, like a pinwheel. On the backside I used a white gel pen to create the grid and the stitches, similar to the movement of the pinwheel created on the front side.
I can’t wait to see what the other 25 members have done to create this fabulous fat book. I will post a photo when the book arrives.
Keep it simple!
