Weekend Art Two

I move between paper and fabric quite often in my art.  I have been itching to get a new quilt started and I finally did it today.  I pulled out a stack of fat quarters from Anna Maria Horner called “Cocktail Party” from her Garden Party line of fabric.  What a delicious fat stack of colors these are!

I wanted to make something simple, but would have lots of impact.  A simple four-patch came to mind.  After washing and ironing the fabrics, I started cutting and sewing.  Here are the stacks of four patch squares that I have so far.

I haven’t decided yet whether I will sew these together, side by side, or if I will add a strip in between.  We’ll see once I get all of the four patches sewn.  Stay tuned.

Great colors in this patchwork! isn’t it interesting how simple patterns like squares and triangles have such a huge potential for when created from well-designed fabric…have been working in paint and paper for quite a while now, but with Christmas coming…gifts have to be made…! thanks for the inspiration.
